FILEFIDDLER

Choose a file workflow you can check

FileFiddler gives you focused tools for converting files, extracting PDF and image tables into Excel, preparing ID photos, cleaning spreadsheets, creating business documents and running everyday calculations without a complicated dashboard or account requirement.

Tools built around the actual file problem

A file extension does not tell the whole story. A PDF can contain selectable positioned text or only scanned page images; a CSV cannot preserve the same workbook structure as XLSX; and OCR can recognize text without knowing which spreadsheet column it belongs in. FileFiddler documents these differences and uses separate workflows where the underlying problems are different.

For example, PDF to Excel reconstructs rows and columns from selectable text and page coordinates, while Image to Excel first performs OCR and then reconstructs the table from recognized text boxes. Both workflows provide a review step because important business data should not be treated as automatically verified.

Privacy-aware processing

Many tools perform their work directly in the browser. A small number of reconstruction tools use the protected FileFiddler API for specific analysis while keeping the original source file local. Each supported workflow explains what is processed and what limitations to review.

Learn before you rely on the output

The FileFiddler Guides explain PDF table structure, OCR, editable PDF-to-Word conversion, FIFO ledger aging, category-based PDF splitting and image optimization. Use the worked examples to decide whether a workflow fits your source and to check the output before relying on it.

Three checks that prevent the wrong conversion

Check the source: try selecting a word in a PDF. Selectable text can be extracted; a scanned page needs OCR first. For tables, check that amounts, dates and column headings remain in the correct cells after conversion.

Check the result you need: choose Excel for rows and columns, Word for editable document text, or JPG for a page image. Exporting a page to JPG does not keep its text selectable.

Check dimensions separately from file size: resizing a 40 × 30 pixel image to half its width should produce 20 × 15 pixels when the aspect ratio is locked. The byte size also depends on format, image detail and quality, so halving dimensions does not promise a particular upload size.
